Bulky data is visually represented in a traditional bar chart by stacking it vertically or horizontally, one on top of the other. But you are choosing a traditional way—the “Radial Stacked Bar Chart“—to represent your data. In a radial stacked bar chart, data will be visualized on a circular or polar coordinate system and separated by colorful contrast.

Microsoft Excel provides no built-in system to create a radial stacked bar chart. But we will create a radial stacked bar chart with the help of a type of Pie chart-” Doughnut Chart

Suppose you are given a table containing the selling quantities of five different products. And you want to create a radial stacked bar chart with the data.

Steps to Create  Radial Stacked Bar Chart in Excel

Step 1: Prepare Data for Creating a Radial Stacked Bar Chart.

Step 1.1: Insert a new column named Helping data and input the following formula in the output cell D3

=MAX(C$3:C$7)*1.3-C3

Step 1.2: Press Enter and AutoFill the remaining cells in column D

Step 2: Create a Data Label for Each Circle of the Radial Bar Chart

Step 2.1: In a new column, insert the following formula in the output cell E3

=B3&"-Q"&TEXT(C3,"00%")

Step 2.2: Hit the Enter Key and AutoFill the remaining empty cells in column E

Step 3: Select the data range B3:D7.

Step 4: Click on the “Insert” tab. 

Step 5: Next, choose the doughnut chart from the pie chart section.

The chart will appear on the sheet.

Step 6: Double-click on the chart.

Step 7: The chart design tab will be displayed. Click on the switch row /column option from the chart design tab.

Then, the chart will alter its elements as shown below

Step 8: Click on the doughnut area and then right-click on the mouse. and then select the Format Data Series option.

Step 9: Format Data Series tab will be opened from the right side of your monitor. Set the doughnut hole size at 25%, as marked in the picture below.

After pressing Enter, the result will be:

Step 10: Delete the orange portion of the radial bar chart.

Step 10.1: Double-click on the outer ring or circle of the chart.

Step 10.2: From the Format Data Series tab, select the No Fill option.

Step 11: Repeat Step 10 for all the circles in the chart. And the result will be as below:

Step 12: Change the chart’s color.

Step 12.1: Double-click on the blue side of the chart. 

Step 12.2: The Format Data Point tab will be opened.

Step 12.3: From the Theme color option you can change the color for every circle individually

Step 13: Placing chart labels

Step 13.1: Go to the “Insert” tab. 

Step 13.2: Click the “Text” button.

Step 13.3: Click on the “Text Box” option. Place it in the appropriate position.

Step 13.4: Now, In the formula bar input the following formula to link the text box with cell E8

=$E$8

Step 13.5: Repeat step 13.1-13.4 for all circles of the chart

Note: You can omit Step 13 if you write the names of the products manually in the Text Box.
